EMTP® Selected by SENELEC for Simulating Large Grids

Montreal (Canada) - February 24, 2022

EMTP® is thrilled to announce that SENELEC, the transmission owner and operator in Senegal, has selected EMTP® as the preferred solution for Inverter-Based Resources (IBR) integration studies. After evaluating all solutions available on the market through a rigorous public request for proposal, SENELEC determined that EMTP® offered the best technical advantages for their needs.

Need for software solutions able to perform large scale simulations

This agreement follows several important objectives, including the provision of premium software licenses to SENELEC and obtaining several toolboxes such as Protection, Renewable Energy, Exciters & Governors, Simulink® and PSS/E unlimited version.

SENELEC has also committed to training its engineering teams in the use of EMTP® software and EMT studies of electrical networks. Additionally, SENELEC engineering teams will be trained on how to verify manufacturing models of renewable energies interfaced by converters. Large-scale system analysis in time-domain will be performed, with detailed models for renewables, FACTS, HVDC, storage and other technologies.
