Release Notes 4.6
New: E-Interconnect Toolbox
The E-Interconnect Toolbox is the most powerful and essential tool for automating model quality tests and conformity assessments required for IBR (Inverter-Based Resource) grid interconnection studies. This game-changing solution is redefining how interconnection studies are done, accelerating workflows and reducing engineering time to perform all simulations required.

Advanced Generic Grid Forming Converter Model
The release of EMTP® version 4.5 introduces an enhanced generic model of the Grid Forming (GFM) converter, designed for stability, fault, harmonic, dynamic, and interconnection studies. The GFM converter offers several key features:
Power Flow Integration: It can be integrated into power flow studies as either a slack or PV bus.
Parallel Computing Simulation in EMTP®
Parallel Computing Simulation in EMTP®
As EMT power system models grow in complexity and are used more frequently for routine analysis, enhancing simulation speed becomes crucial. The EMTP® development team addresses this challenge through several key advancements:
NYPA's AGILe & EMTP Collaboration: New York's Digital Twin
Our EMTP® team has started an exciting and innovative project with the Advanced Grid Innovation Laboratory for Energy (AGILe) team at the New York Power Authority (NYPA).
Introducing the EMT Online Connection Tool
As part of the grid interconnection process, Generation Owners and Transmission Owners (GOs/TOs) need to assess the compliance and adequacy of their EMT models. During these tests, the grid is usually represented by a simple Thevenin equivalent, enabling the evaluation of the model's behavior in a limited set of scenarios and operational conditions.
EMTP® Collaborates with RTE to Develop an Advanced Connection Tool
Leveraging the development of the EMT Connection Tool which started with the Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional (Chilean ISO), EMTP® is proud to announce a new collaborative project with Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE), the French transmission system operator. Building on the expertise and the technological advancements from our work in Chile, we aim to create a similar EMT Connection Tool that will serve the needs of the French electric system.
